CLUTTERBUCK

Clutterbuck was born 10 days before Beltane 2008.

He was born on a football pitch along with 5 siblings, they were found and taken to the R.S.P.C.A. who notified me that a batch of kittens had been brought in.  I had been wanting a kitten, particularly a black one, he was the obvious choice. I chose an unusual name for him as I had read about Dorothy Clutterbuck in the Pagan Dawn magazines and liked her surname. The ladies who work at the Veterinary Surgery like his name.

He is  happy and healthy, Clutterbuck likes to be the "baby" of the family. He is a very good hunter and brings gifts of voles and rodents and he hunts young rabbits which he eats.

He shows particular interest in magical rituals, wanting to be present and has also sat beside me when I have constructed charms, which I have shown to him and he has placed an "approving paw" on them.

I have owned a few cats in my lifetime (or maybe I should say a few cats have owned me!)  unlike past ones, Clutterbuck is showing real potential for being a "familiar" but still enjoys the usual pastimes of climbing trees, playing with magpies and leaves on the ground that are buffeted by the breeze.

He is very affectionate and loves to sleep on his back with his paws in the air. He sat at the french windows in the morning and watched the birds feeding outside, occasionally jumping up at the glass thinking he may still catch one.We said that he was watching “breakfast TV”! J

We have now moved from the Mill House which meant we had to downsize drastically. Clutterbuck could not settle as there were too many boxes around in our small cottage, he went missing for 2 weeks just after the move . We put up posters around the village and notified the RSPCA and other associations. We had only moved a mile away from our previous home, we wondered if he might return there. We were very worried. I received a phone call from a lady who was passing the Mill House and she informed me that she had seen a black cat crossing the road. Cassandra and I went to check it out and as soon as we got out of the car we could hear him calling to us. He felt a little lighter in weight, but because he is such a good hunter he had not wanted for food. We took him back to his new home and he has happily settled and does not wander too far away now.
